Our Curriculum and Philosophy:
We believe students learn best when they are interested, engaged and hands-on. We use a thematic curriculum that is driven by a combination of student interest, District learning objectives, and State Learning Standards. Our curriculum is designed to supplement the school day and tie into classroom learning when possible. Our lessons are matched to PA State Learning Standards. You may have heard "Play is the Work of the Child." At Crossroads we know this is true! While we "play" - do experiments, paint, craft, cook, students are learning about math, science, art, communication, sharing, cooperation, and much, much more!
Crossroads is an Equal Opportunity Childcare Provider.
Before School 7:00 - 8:30 am
Our Before School program serves students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our day begins at 7:00 am, breakfast is available until 7:30 am. Students have free play time, as well as a daily theme activity before heading off to school. Transportation to school is provided by WSSD buses.
After School/Extended Day K (K-5th grade) 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm:
Our extended day students are picked up from the K-Club at 3:30 pm. They will have snack and then move on to learning centers while our WSSD buses arrive. We have students from all three elementary schools each day. Our afternoon begins with a healthy snack, and some free time to play a game, check out a center, start on homework, read or just chat with friends. Once all the buses have arrived and everyone has had snack we head outside for recess. We have a supervised homework time and students can choose extended recess or homework. We offer a daily themed learning activity, free play and center activities to round out our day. The program closes at 6:00 pm.
