***Important Announcement ***

Greetings,

As you know, our preschool program has been suspended since mid-March 2020 due to Covid-19. The Weekday School Board has been actively evaluating the viability of the program and the needs of the community. On Monday, May 9 the Weekday School Board voted to recommend to the Church Council that we will not resume our preschool program. The Church Council voted on May 11 in favor of the recommendation.

The landscape of early childhood education, as well as the needs of the community, have changed over the past decades. There is significant demand for full day childcare and early learning programs for infants through kindergarten. With this said, there is also a childcare staffing shortage across the state of Pennsylvania. We worked hard to try and navigate the obstacles, but they were too great to overcome. Additionally, the impact of the pandemic cannot be understated as it has changed the ways families approach their work/life balance, as well as their resources of time and finances.

This was not an easy decision as the preschool has been a part of the community for over 50 years. We give thanks for all of the families, teachers, staff, and the congregation who worked tirelessly to provide the preschool program for our community. The Council and Weekday School Board will share information in the coming months about how we will celebrate the work of the preschool and give thanks for the ministry that was accomplished.

Our effort and resources will be directed to the Crossroads program as there is a clear need within the community for before and after school care, as well as kindergarten compliment programs.

We give thanks to God for our past and remain open to where God is calling and leading us into the future.

In gratitude,

Mr. Mike Tegan, Weekday School Board Chair

Mr. Joseph Troyan, Church Council President

Pastor Jenn Casey

Our Thanks to our Families, our Staff and our Community for so many years of happy memories and helping young children to have a positive first experience in a classroom.  --Sharon Snow, Director Crossroads
